For many people, the idea of a personal trainer conjures up a vision of circuit training, vigorous exercises and very large biceps.

There is however another aspect to the work that Brian does that not everyone will be aware of, and that concerns the help he gives to many people who are in need of rehabilitation after injury, chronic and often incurable illnesses where the maintenance of mobility, limb function, etc is vital.  Like every GP I have many patients who are in need of this kind of help.

I have known Brian for several years now, and at first did not quite understand the scope of his work, but soon came to realise the wide variety of problems his clients had to cope with.  He started to work with a number of my friends and family, and eventually myself.

I was impressed with the care he takes to assess the exact needs of the client initially, and then formed a plan tailored to the individual.  As well as being a very pleasant and friendly chap, Brian has two other valuable qualities.  Firstly, his ability to gently motivate people is remarkable, done so in a very light hearted but firm way.   Having said this, he is very aware of everyone’s limits, and ensures that these limits are not exceeded.  Secondly, his patience is endless, and it is obvious that he gets huge pleasure from seeing the tiniest bit of improvement in his clients progress.

Brian has now worked with a lot of people that I know well, and has made a significant difference to the quality of life for many of them.

I'm 30 years old and due to illness I have been confined to a wheelchair for the past 3 years. However, since Brian has been my personal trainer, for approximately 1 year now, I have not only improved my strength and well-being but also regained a lot of self confidence that I had lost due to my condition. Brian has been very considerate throughout and has constantly looked to get the very best out of me. He has been perceptive to my needs and very supportive when I am struggling, always willing to compromise at the appropriate time. I truly believe that Brian has the best interests of his clients uppermost in his mind at all times, he remains enthusiastic and passionate about his profession and is totally committed to his clients.

I am a keen golfer playing off a handicap of 6. As I am getting older I was having continuous problems with my back resulting from the pressure placed on it from the golf swing. I started working with Brian with a view of improving my core strength and flexibility and I have seen a significant improvement in my ability to reduce injuries. Brian has also been a great support when an injury occurred through his massage techniques which provided a swifter and more effective recovery.

As a businessman in my late 50’s I was becoming more and more unfit and putting on weight, due to my lifestyle of spending my day’s sat in meetings or behind the wheel of a car, whilst doing little exercise. I began to experience backache and so four years ago was introduced to Brian by one of his existing customers. Brian arranged to come and see me, assessed me and diagnosed my problems. We began to work on a get-me fit regime immediately. I can truthfully say I feel better, physically and mentally than I have for many years, indeed I wish I’d met Brian years ago. His motivation and assessment skills are excellent, his time keeping, punctuality and professionalism are first class. I would have no hesitation in recommending Genesis to anyone, the cost is a sound investment.

Knowing Brian has opened a whole new world to me. Because of Brian's support I am now stronger, physically and mentally. Brian has brought out the confident, independent woman he believes I am. The future is bright.

Brian is very professional and makes exercise enjoyable. We've built fitness, strength, stamina and flexibility with his varied workout routines. We'd recommend him to anybody.

I am 35 and have had progressive MS for 10 years, two of which have been in a wheelchair. I started working with Brian 4 months ago following a recommendation from my GP. For the last 10 years I have done everything within my power to maintain my fitness, flexibility and independence but eventually I knew I needed better one to one more reliable treatment and support than the NHS was able to offer. Brian took the time to fully understand my condition and needs and immediately I felt the benefits of the strength training. My muscles are slowly untangling themselves and remembering what they use to be able to do. Brian has eternal optimism and ambition which you can’t help but be swept up in. One of the biggest confidence boosts has come from Brian’s constant reminders that my advantage is my relative youth and previous fitness. Each goal set is achievable with consistent practise and no achievement however small is ever taken for granted. I cannot recommend Brian highly enough.

I started looking for a personal trainer after the birth of my son. After 3 months of training with Brian I had lost the extra weight I had gained during pregnancy and felt fitter and stronger than before. I have continued with the regular training sessions as I’ve been so delighted with the results. Brian keeps exercise interesting, varying the sessions and pushing me to achieve more. He is extremely knowledgeable, and knows how to get the best out of his clients.

As a result of a multiple fracture of my ankle in Dec 2001, Brian entered my life in March 2003. He promised me a full 18 holes of golf with no pain by the summer. He was true to his word. My right ankle is now more flexible than my left, all metal removed - Brian still attends 5 years later, now training my husband as well!

I was diagnosed with Multiple sclerosis 11 years ago. Over time my ability to walk and do everyday things has deteriorated to a stage where I struggle to walk any distance and would sit for long periods of time doing nothing. In the last 11 years I’ve had numerous appointments and consultations with physiotherapists without any improvement in my physical health.

About a year ago a friend recommended Brian, who was working with her elderly father. Brian came to talk and assess my situation. He was extremely enthusiastic and immediately gave me a few exercises to do over the following week.

Over the time Brian has been coming to see me, he has introduced lots of inexpensive but very effective equipment that I can use. From doing nothing I can now do 40+ squats and 400 steps on a small stepper, none of which I could do before hand. We wrote a list of things I would like to be able to do again, one of which was to be able to walk up stairs again, which with a little time, I can now do. I now walk around with the aid of a frame with much more confidence and energy, and because Brian comes to see me every week I have something to work towards.

Brian makes sure that I can do every new exercise/stretch he introduces, and that I am safe doing it. I have now reached the point where I can get onto the floor to do stretches and occasionally can get myself up again. With more practice and help from Brian I hope that will improve.

Each week we go through part of the exercise programme so that Brian can see how things have improved and can adjust things accordingly.

I’m so grateful to my friend for recommending Brian, and to Brian for helping me this far and improving my ability to do so much more. If Brian hadn’t helped, my physical health would have gone downhill and I would have soon been in a wheelchair full time. I now feel I can carry on walking and still improve further.

I started training with Genesis Jan 2010 in preparation for the new motorsport season.

The brief was to lose some weight, improve reaction times and build core strength & stamina.

Training with Brian 2 x per week in conjunction with advice on cardio regime and diet has paid real dividend and in 2010 I took the class win in CSCC in the Caterham R400.

For 2011 the training has been increased and so has the racing - I am competing in the Avon Tyres Caterham Superlight championship and Dunlop MSA Britcar endurance championship – including the Silverstone 24HR race.
